I knew I had this issue in my younger days because King Kobra's "Ready to Strike" was a favorite album of mine for 1985. I had started following Carmine Appice back in 1982 and was gathering up all of the bands he had played with. The article on this summarizes everything I loved about King Kobra. I definitely recommend this album to anyone that loved their 80's metal. Muscular drumming from Carmine, great vocals from Mark Free, dual guitars from Mick Sweda and David Michael Phillips and rounded out with Johnny Rod on bass. Interesting note. Mick Sweda would go onto form the Bulletboys and Johnny Rod would play bass with WASP as Blackie Lawless would switch to guitar from the bass on the "Inside the Electric Circus" album. Love that you guys brought up this old issue. Love it!

That was tops! Hit Parader was pretty clever and economical with their format and lay out. The issue started out with lots of color, big pics, current news, interviews and updates, and as you thumbed through it, by the last quarter of the mag, its pretty much all black and white ads of varying types and products and loosely related media. At the time, I was always a bit more partial to Englands Kerrang! Their editors and columnists were well versed and fans of metal and hilarious to boot, and with the Pandora Peroxide cartoon, and the always chuckle worthy 'View from the bar' overview of Metal goings on, i think you got more bang for your buck, but when the buzz was high as it was in the 80's we devoured every mag that came our way.

Another great show, guys! A few points sprang to mind whilst watching…Mama’s Boys also covered the Slade track “Mama Weer All Crazee Now” and the video is awesome!

I like Accept’s Metal Heart album. It was the first one I bought by them and speaking of Accept…
One of the many, many, MANY bands I have seen at Manchester Apollo venue this over the years was Accept! Twice!! Same venue!!! Lol (Ok, I’ll quit the exclamation points thing…)
First time I saw them there, they were headlining in support of their Russian Roulette album (which I think was the one after Metal Heart if memory serves. The gig was 1986. Gee, I practically moved in at the Apollo that year haha). But the support band for Accept that night was Dokken promoting the Under Lock and Key album ❤
The second time I saw Accept, they were special guests to Sabaton, about 10 years ago or something. Anyway, I digress…onward!!

My final point was about King Kobra, their bassist Johnny Rod, and the fact he joined WASP for the Inside the Electric Circus album and tour, but I saw someone else has already mentioned that. So I will just add, guess where and in which year I first saw WASP? 😉😁 Yep, 1986, Electric Circus tour, at Manchester Apollo 😂
Told you I practically moved in haha
Anyway, loving the content on the channel. Keep it coming and we’ll keep watching and commenting 👍🏻🤘🏻😉

Love these mag flips!! As corny as it is now the DIO Last in Line video was pretty epic at the time it came out on Mtv. 1985 what a year I will be doing videos on the concerts I attended that year. Looking back at mags like this brings up all these bands I need to pull out the records and listen to again.

Keep them coming my dudes!! I'm surprised you guys didn't go into much more detail about King Kobra's singer's sex change operation.

As a drummer myself I could never stand Tommy Lee. He was such a tool back in the day. And always tooting his own horn. Bobby Blotzer. Now there's a kick-ass drummer. He's totally underrated. He underplays on the albums. I saw Ratt on the Invasion of Your Privacy tour and was really blown away by Bobby's playing.

Saw Accept open for Dio! He played Nashville twice in 1985/86 within a 6 month period!!!! Everybody in my high school was a huge Dio fan all the cool kids anyway, Even the cheerleaders! This kid at the deal concert the sacred heart tour I guess the second time around, he would still t-shirts at the concert, he would sneak on the floor and they were seats on the side, as soon as the lights went down, It got pitch black, before Dio hit the stage, I followed him down there, snatch the t-shirt, hoping it was Dio, but it was an accept shirt! It was the Russian roulette I don't think I've stole anything since then so I'm not a thief for anything but I was that night! But you know the guy who bought that t-shirt I feel like crap now about that, he must have been a real big acccept fan, because most people didn't buy the opening act t-shirt

That's so funny Bob I also went down the Chris Holmes rabbit hole about a week ago. I was surprised to find out he's alive and well and living in France.

Dixie Dregs were pretty cool. Very talented players.
Just so you know, Steve left Purple back in 22, due to his wife battling cancer. RIP
They replaced him with a guy named Simon McBride 🎸

Condition critical is a better album than their first, song for song. Except the first album has the two best songs being their hits.

I disgree with one statement, he was a great frontman, but not a great vocalist live, none the less fun episode
