I grew up in Texas. Came out when I was 15. I was confident and didn't give a crap if anyone had a problem with it. With that being stated!
1) it IS dangerous to come out too soon.
2) I was stupid and probably shouldn't have.
3) I can't tell you how many times I thought my life was in danger.
But...my father taught me today always be honest and not to compromise on importantly felt principles.

Interestingly, when I was in HS in the mid 60s in Texas, it was a given that the guys in drama (as it was called) were gay and no one thought anything about it. Times have changed not for the best.
