Carl Downing speaks to MTDCNC about the GROB G550 Gen 2.  Firstly, the concept makes this machine unique, giving to the ability to machine the largest work piece with the longest tool (due to the large Z axis travel) without any interference issues throughout the full 230 degrees of A axis movement (+45 deg to – 185 deg).  Secondly, the concept allows overhead machining, giving the advantage of optimum chip fall, extending tool life.  All within a smaller footprint than previous model.

I love that machine! I wish I had the opportunity to use one. I first laid my eyes on it at a trade show. Maybe one day in the future I can convince my boss to purchase one!😂
