I sang this at my boyfriend's graduation. It was at a time in my life where I was leaving everything I knew behind, leaving the toxic people and situations I was stuck in. Everything was changing.
But at the same time, he was my constant. We sang this in our choir and afterwards, I cried. I knew things were changing, but as the song says: not everything was changing.
I'm so grateful to have had the opportunity to change my whole life in just one year, and I'm so grateful that he was there to reassure me that some things would end up staying the same. But instead of only the bad things staying, it was at last the other way around.

We had been preparing to sing this song at graduation all year. And sure, I got a little teary eyes once the words rubbed in. But a week from graduation, with the teacher retiring, and most of the ensemble students + my brother graduating, I rushed out of the room several times mid-song just to cry about it. And my teacher, bless her soul, came outside to check on me every time. I'm really going to miss her, she treats her students like her own children. And my brother? He was the main reason I cried. He influenced most of my personality. I like video games and memes all because of him. He developed my sense of humor, even if he doesn't find some of my jokes funny.
Not being able to stop in to class when i'm waiting for my ride, or hopping into my brother's car as he plays obnoxious music and speeds down the school highway is going to hurt a lot. And I think this song made me realize that.
