Changing Ribbon on a Zebra GK420T Printer

Why they call it thermal while it use ribbon, i thout it does not need any.

Any idea how long do these ribbons last or stay usable when unused in the machine? I have one of these printers and thinking about using it rarely but wondering if it's possible.

We have GC420t printer,
when printing 1 label it does not stop after printing 1 label directly as it`s printing 15 empty labels more
how to fix this issue
i tried to calibrate it from printer also from software but no solution !!
