Hungarian Grand Prix: Race Review

The 2018 Hungarian Grand Prix was far from a thriller, but it did offer up some strategy intrigue, some clever team play and a final 5 laps of drama. In this race review: Lewis Hamilton makes it back to back wins, ‘wingman’ Valtteri Bottas causes chaos and a missed opportunity for Red Bull. Plus, Ferrari forget Kimi Raikkonen’s drink system, a look at the championship tables and my driver of the day.

A great result for Haas, my favourite part of the race was Magnussen holding back Ricciardo. I am hungrier than ever to see Haas get more points in the second half of the season. Bring on Spa.

Also team radio records show that Bottas didn't abide by the order from his engineer to give back the position to Ricciardo. He refuses clearly on the radio but couldn't hold the position long.

Please do a video comparing the perfomance of last years torro rosso with renault and this years with honda. I would be interesting to see how dieferent the perfomance is in the lalf summer break mark and how much has honda actualy improved

Bottas is not a malicious driver. I think he fought Vettel and was out of control of the car with Ricciardo. Good call by the stewards. For me, Mercedes tactics were terrible. Bottas did not need to pit with Raikkonen, he could have stayed out longer as Raikkonen was always going to have to pit twice. Even if he'd lost the place to Vettel after the pit stops Lewis was gaining time with Valtteri in second. Mercedes have missed out on at least a 1, 3. If not a 1, 2.

I think Bottas is just frustrated, this weekends Bottas was a different person than we knew before. All the bad luck, China, Baku, Austria, Silverstone... And the teamorders last race are starting to show. Bottas does not want to be a "wingman", he wants to win, and he had many opportunities taken away by bad luck and teamorders. Hopefully he will have some good weekends after the summerbreak, and get a few wins. He has deserved them. But this was a bad sunday and he did deserve the penalty. I just feel bad for him.

I think its unfair to say that race was Valtteri Bottas best race with Mercedes in the last two years. Would that not make Bottas feel like his win in Sochi, Speilberg and Abu Dhabi were not so great?

I think Toto's comments are are just 'spice' words not what Mercedes can do, I don't think they would tell Bottas to let Lewis past.
