IXEG 737 Classic Takeoff / Developmental Testing

preview_player
Показать описание
This is an impromptu over the shoulder of operational testing of several general systems, usability, sounds and an early test of lnav/vnav tracking. The video gives you an idea of what its like to interact with the simulation. The developer doing the testing isn't quite as savvy as Captain Jan at the controls, but he does manage to get the aircraft off the ground :) This screencast was done an an i3 iMac with 512MB video card.

Guys, you are doing an awesome job. I bought XPlane just for your model as 737 classics is my favorite. If you ever open beta-test program, I'm in.

That looks so promising! And these sounds are just insane! When this work of art gets released, XPX will finally get the modern Boeing it deserves so badly!

I learnt how to use an FMC with the Wilco 737 200 PIC which was awesome in FS2004 but completely broken in FSX. When this plane comes out Xplane will be 9.9 on the scale. Nothing is a perfect 10. The sound pack is incredible I love the trim wheel noise, perfect the flap lever clunk click effect is brilliant also.

Many thanks for the update, it's appreciated; this is an aeroplane that I am buying the moment it is released.

Very nice! A suggestion though: be sure to also allow the user to manipulate the switches and knobs using the keyboard cursor keys, as I have found the constant click and drag motion of the mouse tiring after awhile, and some apps do not seem to process the mouse movements very well (X-Plane in particular). To set a two-throw switch, the up/down cursor keys for would be used for on/off (like a light switch). For analog controls, like volume setting, the same keys would increase/decrease the value. For multistage controls with multiple discrete settings, the up/down or left/right cursor keys could be used to advance from one setting to the next. How do you indicate the control you want to set? Well, you could have the user click on it, and allow cursor key input to make adjustments. But that involves a click. So better would be to simply hover the cursor over (or near) the switch or control to be set, and any cursor key input will affect it accordingly. And whenever a switch of control knob can adjusted equally well with either the left/right or up/down cursor keys, then allow them to use either set.

Personally, I'd buy this bird right now, even though it's not quite finished.
