Actually, P mount cartridges were developed for use in linear turntables. They were standardized in size and weight because those adjustments could not be made on a linear tone arm. There is no need for adjustments on a standard turntable either, as the tone arms on p mount turntables are manufactured to be the optimal length, weight and the anti-skip is factory set as well. They are still used in linear turntables....the few that still exist. This is an area where we seem to have back slid. We're back to ceramic cartridges with plastic cantilever styluses. : (

Still have and use a vintage Technics turntable with a P-Mount. Glad Audio Technica and Grado (and perhaps others) still make fine cartridges for this type of turntable.

Just pull on the stylus. I remove the headshell from the arm by loosening the lock ring and the whole headshell and stylus just slides out. There is a guide pin to match on the headshell, so you can’t put it in wrong.

Wow, using a magnet from a spindle hard drive.

P mount cartridges don't need adjustments.

I don’t think that screw 0:40 does anything. I can still remove the cartridge and put it back in with ease.
