hello everyone. as many of you i have watched ATLA many times and enjoyed this song. but there wasn't really any good covers of the song. so i did a bit of audio editing to make it much more clear and listenable. it loops 3 times. i hope you all enjoy.

Fun facts:
- the drawing of Iroh’s son in the episode was inspired by a young picture of Mako
- Greg Baldwin (who took over the voice of Iroh after Mako died), when asked to sing this song at functions would politely refuse, saying, “it was Mako’s song.”
- translation of the words on the picture of Iroh’s son “To General Iroh, see you after we win the war. Your loyal son, Lu Ten.”

The combination of the in-universe context (Iroh mourning his dead son) and the real-life circumstances (Mako dying from cancer and being faced with his own mortality) topped with this being the last dialogue Mako recorded for the show adds up to this being impossible to listen to without breaking down in tears.

I watched this idolising uncle iroh, Now at my age I seek to be the uncle iroh in my younger friends/students lives. Thank mako uncle mako.. uncle iroh

He was such a great voice for Aku, I miss him a lot…but I’m proud that Greg Baldwin did a good impression on Aku in Season 5. Rest in peace mako, we miss you.

Uncle Iroh quickly became my favorite. I didn’t see Last Airbender till I was in my late teens. Lost my grandpa to cancer and knowing Mako also had cancer made this scene hit hard.
Love you Mako you are truly a special person to us all.
