I can't believe I went digging through my makeup collection to find the oldest products, then put them on my face!! It wasn't too bad though, I feel like the products still held up well, and none of them were moldy, which is a huge win! What is the oldest product in your makeup collection?

I have the same feelings as many other commenters is that I dont pay attention to expire dates. I bought the estee lauder double wear foundation around 2017, which is my oldest foundation in my collection. And it still smells fine. I plan on trying to finish it next year. Its the wrong shade so i have to mix it to get a good shade match. Which is so annoying! It was expensive so thats why I kept it so long.

😮I have a 30 year old Urban Decay palette (Ammo). It still works, but i don’t use it anymore, its kept for sentimental purposes as my best friend bought it. The absolute oldest thing I have is a No. 7 highlighter powder I pinched off my mum. This thing is legit from the 70s. I don’t use that either but it’s fine, doesnt smell.

Most of my foundations are over a year old and they perform perfectly fine. So i wouldnt be too worried about the foundation. Also powders last a long time so i wouldnt be worried about those either. ❤

I just finished the same foundation this morning... sadly it's no longer available for repurchase. So I'm on the hunt for a new everyday foundation. I also recently finished a Koty airspun and purchased a new one. took about 5 years to use the first one.

My newest foundation is two years old and my oldest is 8 years old 🫣
As long as something isn‘t breaking me out or smells bad, it‘s fine 😅

If it smells/looks fine, no worries.
Last year I used up 12year old avon lipstick that worked just fine, I also have two year old Mac lipstick that smells 😢

I've got a Lancome powder that was made somewhere in 1980xx, and it still works perfectly! I don't believe in exp date of dry powder cosmetics. There is no chance for bacteria to survive in environment without any kind of moisture.

Hellooo I have pretty special memory from NYX shop that includes samples and tbh I’m still not over it even after all this time. So like 7 years ago I just needed to pop in into that NYX shop and get one of their lipliners because I lost the previous one - me naively thinking it’s going to take me no more than 4 minutes… why did I spent 15 minutes watching some randome woman try on mascara, brow pencil, powders, lipliners with my jaw on the floor? I don’t know but the only reason I left before she was done getting infection was because I was late to my lecture. Ew.
I did declutter like 2 years ago, when I had nothing to do during lockdown but there are few products that survived - like my green setting powder that’s at least 6 years old, I have 3 palettes that are 4 year old and my highlighters are not better. The ONLY product that ever expired in my collection was Illamasque Beyond foundation and it still lasted 4ish years before it started to stink like spoiled yoghurt.

If it doesn't smell off, it isn't expired 😂😂 mascara and eyeliner are the only non negotiable 😂😂

I replace mascaras and my lip liners fairly often. The NYX lip liners are my fav but once they get a few months old, they will dry the edges of my lips out so bad and my lips will feel raw and chapped and they hurt. I have never had an issue with lipsticks, foundations or anything else that are years and years old amd certainly no issues with powder products. I've never had an old product break me out. I say use your products unless they look or smell funny or they give you issues. No sense in wasting good product you paid for 🤷🏾‍♀️

I have a waterproof mascara that is 4 years old and I do still use it as its the only waterproof one I have. 😅🫣🫠🥴

I literal have makeup from the 80s and 90s however I don’t use them I honestly have them as decorations on my vanity (wall locker but I’m using it as my vanity). I say when my makeup is expired or when I use it up lol 😭

it expires when it's empty.

if there is no mold, no weird smell, and it's not looking funky it's probably fine
