Platinum Pleads to Xbox & Phil Spencer to Finish Scalebound

During the last few weeks, Platinum Games Scalebound has popped up in Xbox news again as they are pleading with Phil Spencer to come back and finish the game. Scalebound news has been a hot topic for years as many fans have begged to see it finished or lamented on its cancellation. While Hideki Kamiya has asked alongside president Atsushi Inaba to finish the game the question remains… do you want to see it finished or has its time passed?

There was even an update from Platinum saying they'd be open to being purchased the other day. Anyway, do you want to see scale bound come back?

If I remember correctly another little thing about this story was the fact that Platinum was the one having the issues Xbox took the PR hit for canceling it to protect Platinum from potentially losing out on future opportunities because of a game that they couldn't deliver on

This may never happen. I have mentioned this story in detail many times.

It wasn't the fact Platinum were taking too long to make the game. Nor was it the fact that they asked for another extension.

Th issue is Phil sent a team to Platinum to check on the development progress and see if there was anything that Microsoft can do to help remove roadblocks. Only for the team to find that Platinum asked for another delay after not even working on the game for 3 months. The Scalebound team was moved to Neir Autometa to make the Playstation deadline all the while asking for a delay for Scalebound for the XBox. While Microsoft was funding the development. After they were caught they used the excuse the team was burned out and needed a break.

The whole thing could have been salvaged if 3 months prior. Rather than pull the teams off Scalebound and put them on the Playstation exclusive Neir. Call Phil and say ... "We are drowning here. We need assistance". I am sure Phil Spencer would have worked with them. Instead they hid it and got caught.

Platinum tried to make ammends with XBox by allowing Neir to be ported to the XBox with exclusive content because they felt shamed.

This is why Phil Spencer is a good guy. Fans blamed Microsoft and Phil Spencer for the cancelation. When in reality they had no choice. And God bless Phil because he will never condemn Platinum even though it was their fault.

This game was one of the reasons I even bought an Xbox One before I swapped to almost exclusively PC gaming. Would love to see it come back so we can play it. Hope everything works out and we get to see it one day

I was so excited for this game. I was so disappointed when it was cancelled. I would love to see the vision for this game on the current hardware.

You know Destin, I said that it would take a deal maybe for a couple or three games. With this being the last one. Then that interview came out about not having an issue about being acquired by someone that would give them independence and creative freedom and wondered wtf is really going on here?

This is just reminding me of bad times when I only had 2 or 3 Xbox games to look forward to. This cancelation hit hard for diehard xbox fans and I quite frankly never want to hear of it again.

they're still working on Bayonetta 3 and have been for....im not even sure how long. more than 3 years at least. so I'm not sure if I'd trust them again with Scalebound IP.

I would let Platinum drown or be bought out by someone else, if I was Phil & Xbox gaming. If Xbox gaming does offer a deal, Platinum would be under a microscope or micromanaged for whatever they do. They used the funds Xbox gaming gave & team designated for Scalebound to help complete the Neir game before the deadline PlayStation set, instead of asking for help because they were swamped, they just pushed development to the side and lied about their progress and had nothing to show for it when Xbox gaming came to check up on their progress. Scalebound should be revived(The game has interesting concepts & mechanics) but Platinum should never be allowed to touch that IP again. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice and I'm done with you!!!

I think most people deserve a second chance. Platinum seems very sincere about where things went wrong an they seem very serious about finishing this game. Phil should atleast sit down with Platinum an have this discussion. I for sure would love to see it

When they announcement the Scalebound the game got my attention, Even today I still hope somehow this game can make it through and be fully released especially with the new hardware of Xbox series X and atm there's a good chance of this to happen!

Why should we let it go away. For gamers, it’s another opportunity at a new IP and a new experience. Their enthusiasm for wanting to do this makes me excited that they want to do Scalebound justice. I say go for it.

After what they pulled and did to the Xbox brand, I hope Phil Spencer stays very far away from Platinum games and now they are practically begging to be acquired by Xbox. Funding other console games while ignoring an Xbox game, especially with Microsoft’s funding.

The moment I heard this news today it reignited my desire for this game as I thought it was gone forever. With the tech today and the fire from the devs of wanting to work on it, I’d love for this game to finally be fleshed out and properly given the love it deserves for release.
