The Sahara Desert Is Turning GREEN & Could Disappear Forever!

The Sahara Desert, a vast and seemingly endless expanse of scorching sand dunes, has long been synonymous with desolation, where life struggles against the harshest of environments. But imagine this: parts of this desert, long considered barren and inhospitable, are now showing signs of transformation. Vegetation is creeping back, landscapes once parched are now dotted with greenery, and life is returning to areas that have been dry for millennia. What could be causing such an unexpected phenomenon?

I'm not completely surprised.
I've known that the Sahel - the region on the southern edge of the Sahara - has been greening for at least the last 20-30 years or so (which is great). Looks like the Sahara greening is an extension of that.
The good thing is - the more vegetation that a region has, you can get "micro-climate" effects kicking in.
The plant-covered land is cooler and the evaporation from plant-covered land can create clouds which then give rain, starting a "positive feedback loop", making the land even greener.
Oh, and plant-covered land retains moisture well, stopping the land from drying out.

Nothing on this planet is forever. The Sahara was once green, so why not again?

I have always thought that the Saguaro cactus was specific to the Sonoran desert in Arizona.

Another bonus, the greening will help cool a hot Earth hopefully resulting in less polar cap ice melt.

The increase in carbon dioxide will do this. The benefits of oil and gas are never ending.

Threre are 200 species which thrive on salty water
If large salt lakes are created by pumping ocean waters inside sahara the seeds of these 200 desert surving and trees surviving on saltwater can be dispersed And irrigated by helicopters or large drones
Once these saltwater forests trees grow like they have in Aralkum desert then it will bring rain in sahara
So algeria morocco libya mauritiana mali must form a league of natiins for green sahara which will boost the economy by boosting agriculture production Animal husbandry and horticulture

This is interesting, but I can't tell which of the video is actually current in the Sahara or representative, but not actually today in the Sahara. Can you shed some light on this? I would enjoy the video more.

If this can be done in the Sahara, why not others?
Australia for one 🤔.
It's possible to regrow our greenhouse effect again 🤗🥰

Not even close.
The milankovitch cycle can turn Sahara desert into Sahara savanna. in thousands of years, by pointing the northen hemisphere to the sun when perihelion, hence increasing the heat at summer to sahara by 10%. That significant increase then widen west african moonsoon.
In the video, planting tree only help when the annual rainfall is enough at Sahel region, stop or slow sahara expansion.
With current pace of climate change in just hundreds of year, it is simply too fast to adapt. Some places get more rain, but too hot and too many extreme weather everywhere.
The effort of protection is nothing compare to the destruction of human.

Why show images from American desert in a video about the Sahara with Saguaro cacti and all?
