Honestly feels like the test is measuring a testee's ability to be a good storyteller rather than their language proficiency

Sometimes these exams feel truly absurd. "When was the last time you went shopping at Tesco?" was answered with "About a week ago". If this type of answer is considered problematic because it's too short, then the exam evaluation criteria need to be reviewed or the questions need to be changed. No english person ever would add anything to this answer in a REAL conversation. For the REAL world, this was a perfectly valid answer. (I passed a similar english test with 111/120, so it's not like I'm writing because I'm angry at them)

You are the hardest examiner on him comparing to other examiners on youtube channels!

No worries, it's no shame to be failed at all. It may looks funny to some but they are the ones who just do not dare to take on new challenges. Being failed at something makes you successful put it that way. I am pretty sure he will be much better user of English in the future regardless of how many times he fails.

No way he did a really good job, compared to students in my country he deserves a band 6 😊❤

Hi dear Adrian. I was the subscriber of your youtube channel and i attended your classes regularly. I wrote ielts and i got 7 score for speaking and the remaining parts got 7.5, 7, and 7. Thank you so much for your nice classes and now i am working in the uk as a nurse.

I wouldn't say he deserves a band 4.
5.5 to 6 would be something I'd say. His English was nice, with frequent errors but way better than many non-native speakers. His body language wasn't incorrect too.

He started very well but the main problem was at part 2 because that the most essential part to pass the exam you shouldn't have stopped or hesitate or even confused you have to continue regardless if you are doing grammer errors...

Thank you for uploading speaking videos. They have been helpful for my speaking since I subscribed. I appreciate this.

I think this is a great example of how students often misunderstand how the speaking test is marked. This person probably would not score a 4.0, but a 4.5-5.0 is quite likely. The [full] speaking band descriptors are available to the public now and you have to be able to meet all the positive criteria of a band to qualify for that score. In the beginning he did well with part 1, but those questions are designed to be quite easy and are used mainly for the candidate to get comfortable with the test format before moving onto the other sections. The main weighting of the score will come in the later 2 segments. In parts 2 and 3, he definitely relies on pauses and hesitations to answer the question(s). His vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation is not exemplary enough to warrant a higher score than a 6. I will say that the (mock) examiner was not very supportive and moved onto the next question when it was clear the candidate demonstrated problems with understanding of the question. The candidate could have produced more coherent langauge if given the opportunity.

The judge explained why he got a low score, but his "correct" way doesn't sound like a daily normal conversation. "Certainly, please allow me a moment to take my passport out of my pocket and turn to the page with the credentials..." Gah! Just take it already!

I'm starting to realize that IELTS Speaking scoring is pretty subjective. Although there are criteria on how they score the students, but there are some examiners that are ok with "pause, repeat the question, talk slower (as long as using the correct grammar and tenses)", but apparently not with this Academy English...

He did his best. Still, it's a win-win situation because he was able to identify the areas that need improvement so he can work on those areas.

Don't be too harsh to the examinees.Instead to make them compable talking to you, I think you make him feel much nervous.

His English is good, so he has described all of this topics, so that for 5-6 you have to say as if you looked there, but it is interesting if I get 7-8, then I don’t know what kind of birth I have, it seems to me that even people who were born in America or Canada, then they would not get a 7 grade with such requirements

I'm not an IELTS learner but I enjoy learning English, from my point of view when someone absorbs a new language they don't need to follow any stereotype, I have seen everyone want their accent to be like English native speaker, but for my hobby I would love my accent to be Russian accent, Its funny and doesn't matter at all

4.0? Too unfair! he deserves at least 6.0 and even he has potential to get 6.5
