Great clip of the original lineup. A dirty shame this initial incarnation of the group, one of my all-time favorites, was so short lived!

Here in America it was a great time to be young and experience The British Invasion. 1964 was magic for us. All the Britt groups dominated the music charts for a good six months or so. Even Elvis couldn't get a hit record till late in Summer when he finally broke through with Viva Las Vegas. After that he started having songs in the charts regularly again. The Searchers had a great distinctive sound all their own. You knew it was one of their songs on the radio before the disc jockey even told you. I regret they had so much turmoil in the group early on. Personalities just don't blend well sometimes. It's to bad because the sound was excellent. I enjoyed this video.

I love the Searchers, great guitar sounds. You don't need solos to have great guitar songs.Today's music is a drag.

My theme song as a kids in Liverpool. Had to have John Mc play this when they toured the US ...his response backstage was "G'won - 'aven;t played this in years" - my true Scouse hero..Happy retirement lads. Our generation was happy...

Tony Jackson with his very distinctive, high pitched lead vocals. Great band back in those days. Good times!

Tony Jackson, not only a great singer with a very distinctive voice, but also a very proficient bass player...

Yes indeed, the late Tony Jackson ... one of the best lead vocals of the 60's

The one and only Tony Jackson, as lead singer. He had a great voice, indeed one of the best lead singers of the 60’s. Chris Curtis the drummer, froze him out of the group which was a serious mistake. Jackson had the last laugh as Curtis himself was forced to leave a couple of years later!
