Jay this is not that complicated. Your cartridge and needle has a weight and so with that weight it touches the vinyl. This weight is mostly to heavy, who have to work against that with a adjustable weight on the tone arm to getting the recommended "pushing" weight that the arm and cartridge will touch the vinyl in the end. The Manufacturer is giving out its recommentations and with these precision balance you can work to that with the weights on the ton arm

Get a custom acrylic cover made in order to keep the dust cloth far, far away from the stylus.

Man can spend 100s of thousands on audio gear, yet turning a screw and using a scale is too complicated. This guy definitely doesnt know anything at all

All that trouble and money to hear the distortion of a needle bouncing off gouges in plastic. 1877 technology isn't as clean as tape, let alone CDs. To each his own.
