One thing is MAKE SURE YOU BIND TO CROUCH AND NOT TOGGLE CROUCH!!! If you bind your SJ button on toggle crouch you will angelic descent as soon as the SJ is over which can slow your movement drastically unless you tap your crouch button again

my 2 main issues with toggle beam off are:
1) hand fatigue. mercy is a hero that holds the mouse buttons way more than any other hero. after long gameplay sessions, I could really feel the pain.
2) mouse switches getting worn out: I remember the 2017 mercy meta where I played with toggle beam off and my new mouse had problems in less than a year. it got inconsistent at keeping the buttons held down, so the beam randomly disconnected no matter how light or tight you held the buttons.
after that I got back to toggle beam on and honestly I don't regret it.

I hope they add the ability to change the colour of the teammate 'auras' at somepoint, I really struggle to play support now because I'm blue-green colourblind, so I can't tell when someone's gone from 100% health to 80%, and it's just sucked the fun out of support for me and I don't see why they changed it from the first game's system of 100% = green. Using the filter helps with that one issue, but brings up tons more, so it's generally more painful to use than to struggle with the colours.

Toggle Beam ON gets rid of one of the active inputs you need to pay attention to, so if you're struggling with keeping track of your teammates/enemies or with "gotta look at the target I'm healing" mentality I would definitely recommend trying this setting out. You can swap between different beam modes simply by clicking the other beam mode button once, it works even if you're not looking at your target or if you walk out of beam range. You can hold the button down as you're approaching an ally to attach automatically and then let go. About the only thing that's a straight up downside compared to OFF is that if you're looking at a group of teammates and are already attached to one of them and want to swap modes, there's a chance you might connect to a different teammate altogether, so I definitely also recommend lowering your beam sensitivity. It's definitely not as "clunky" of a setting as a lot people think, the muscle memory of OFF just really messes with ON, much more than vice versa.

0:58 You can also swap to your pistol to break beam connection.

Holy Shit! I just hit Diamond playing almost exclusively Mercy and had no clue about the Crouch boosting you upwards. I don't know how I didn't figure this out yet but thank you!!

6:15 Toggle beam connection(on) is not that bad especially if you are on (prefer facing target) GA. For me, I loss so much focus during the fight when I'm pressing the left right click simultaneously. If you lower your sensitivity&beam sensitivity you will have much control on pressing and canceling the beam

A+ refresher!! mercy's settings have changed a BUNCH since ow1 release, so it's nice to have a reminder of what everything does :D

Thank you for the tip on the last one! I've been having a lot of teammates get picked because they would play in a ball and I would accidently beam the full health teammate instead of the low one...

I did not realise beam sensitivity was a setting I always would get stuck healing my tank when I’m trying to heal dps lol thank you for the vid

I always used prefer beam target until overwatch 2 and I’m glad I finally made the transition. I used to refuse to switch to that setting because I was used to prefer beam target, but I actually really like it off.

4:30 i play with toggle GA on and if it is on cd you have to lift your finger for a bit (so the game knows you stopped pressing it) and press it down again, works the same as holding it down with toggle GA off, so basically uses the ability (ANY ability in the game) off cd just like not having a GA target while holding it down and then looking at someone/getting a valid target

Thanks, this was helpful for me as a new player! I'm disabled and had to skip trying Mercy because it just wasn't working well for how my brain works but with some tweaks to the settings I'm at least able to start learning how to play her.

Playing mercy in the middle eastern surver is hell. There is a pharah in almost every game. I HATE hard pocketing as mercy.

I personally prefer the toggle GA option, at least on Console. I spend so much time trying to keep everything but the beams to just brief taps of the buttons at all times, so double tapping GA is a lot easier for me (especially when its GA on LB and Jump on LT. Its actually really hard to keep that bumper pressed and wind my around around in such a way that I can access the jump without accidentally pressing it lmao)

I love your videos, you don't lead with a bunch of blah blah blah nonsense, you get right to it, and even section off the video making it super easy to learn. Thank you!

FYI if your account is fully new crouch it set to toggle rather than just on button press which screwed me up doing the new super jump for so long.
