In this video we explore some different return options against ‘The 4 Killer Serves,’ some are containing options, which can work just fine. Others are more aggressive and active options, which can help create more point winning opportunities.

…and of course, don’t forget the BLOOPERS at the end!

What I like is that when you start playing, you notice all these tricky serves, but after a few years, you wonder why not so many people use them. Then you realise, they still use them, but you have got used to returning them, so they're no longer tricky serves.

Great Content as always on serve return at basic and advanced level.
Another perspective like advanced vs basic could be backhand vs forehand. For example
how one receives a tomahawk on forehand and on backhand. Likewise for Pendulum serve, how to receive them on both sides. This would be very useful because often at amateur level we find ourselves chasing the serve because of where we were positioned and where the opponent have placed the serve. We could benefit a lot if we can get some suggestions

Grüße aus good old Germany. Hallo Craig. LG

Against the ghost serve (or backspin serves in general) I think stepping in with the right foot, firmly placing it under the table, is key. Most amateurs use the upper body and arm to get under the ball, but don't put enough importance into the footwork. In fact, I'd dare say even Shyan is doing this a little bit - he's a much better player than me though.

Great video! Silly question: can a backhand flick be used to receive a heavy backspin short serve?
If yes, what would the technique look like?
Likewise, can a forehand flick be used to receive a heavy backspin short serve?
Thanks.

Hey Craig great video as always I am struggling with long fast dead serves with maybe a little bit of backspin but purely no spin serve. When I try to play quality low to the net and fast I make error to the net and when I try to play high spin quality deep so I don’t get killed on the counterloop I miss out of the table any tips on that I cant seem to find the perfect execution and what to aim for in my return.(specially in my deep backhand corner or middle if its clean to the forehand its managable).

Craig, I’m using Spinsight to train my serves. I’m sure you heard of them. My question to you is: Roughly how much spin (rps) should I be aiming for in my ghost serve? My level is around 1300 TTR

Hey man! the majority in the Amatur (Romanian Amateur league: categories from Hobby, Advanced, Open and Elite) league is serving long. one bounce in the opponent side. I know that you suppose to attack those serves, but is not that easy. Could you show how to approach and deal with these kind of servers. How to get better in attacking long serves. Thanks and GAME ON!
