What is GRANITE ?

Показать описание
Granite is an intrusive igneous rock known for its coarse grained texture and large #crystal forming varieties. The Sierra Nevada mountains are a great example of a mix of granite and granite-like igneous rocks, aka as a batholith. There are several other rocks that are sometimes simply called granite, but display variation on the scale of coarseness or mineral composition, and these include rocks like Syenite, Monzonite, and Granodiorite. If you want to learn more about granites and rock forming environments, where to find crystals, and all thing geology, join me here at @LetsGoGeo !

Sierra Nevada mountains and their geologic story is so interesting. Loved how you walked through what granite and the classifications (descriptions) based on observations of crystal size and mineral type. Well done. Thanks.
