Maricopa County Engineer Hikes to Mt. Everest Base Camp

Maricopa County Department of Transportation Project Resource Manager, Gant Yasanayake trained for four years to climb the 18,000 feet in elevation to Mt. Everest Base Camp. The 62-year-old civil engineer did the 40-mile trek over 9 days to acclimate to the elevation. His training regimen consisted of walking 6-12 miles a day, stair stepping, and yoga. Yasanayake is already planning his next adventure which will be in Antarctica.
