I think the one thing to look out for with the European budget airlines is location. RyanAir's "Paris" flight is some tiny town an hour outside of Paris. And if you get in really late after public transit stops, you'll be paying tor a really expensive taxi ride into town.

Agreed! Easy jet was a great experience for me also 🙌🏼

Perfect timing for this video as I’m planning my European vacation next year. Lots of inexpensive flights, but not always convenient times to travel. Thanks 😊

Great advice.
To get the real price of cheap/er flights it is definitely worthwhile factoring in any extra transfer costs when flying into/out of 'not close to the' city airports.
Thank you Mark.

I work for a major US airline, and my wife and I just came back from Europe, where we took 3 European Flights, Lufthansa, Eurowings and KLM. Now because I work for an airline we have agreements with the other airline companies about bags, but as far as comfort and professionalism went, Lufthansa was the better of them. Have to say, what I enjoyed the best was the fact going in-between the EU, you don't go through immigration. The problem is you have 15 minutes to get through the boarding process, but that includes boarding from the front and rear at the same time. But everyone is rushing to the gate like a stampede regardless of what company you are flying on, much like the US.

We flew Vueling first time this summer, trip from Barcelona to Brussels and it was perfect. Not the most comfortable seats but we got there with no incidents

And compare the whole trip to your accomidation. Ryanair might be an hour out of town but that might be ok if the train is cheep.

My family and I had a great experience with easyJet flying from Gatwick to Salzburg. I’d fly with them in a heartbeat.

We’ve flown over 50 flights with easyJet now! We live very near Gatwick and there’s a great choice of destinations. Used to use Ryanair when we lived nearer Stansted.

Depending on your route and how thrifty you are then you could also consider Flixbus. The journey time will be longer but look at it as part of your adventure.

Ryanair is great for the experienced traveller. Treat it like a glorified bus; don’t get up-sold on anything, get random seats, take a small carry-on, board last (don’t spend 30 mins queueing in a corridor!). Also choose flight times that coincide with cheap travel to the airport (I always use cheap coach travel to London Stansted).

Do all this and you can get crazy low airfares across Europe, with a service that’s usually very reliable and on time.

My British Airways flight between Warsaw and Heathrow last year was considerably cheaper than was my Ryanair flight between 'Warsaw' (Modlin, 30 mins away from Warsaw) and the UK this year. It's not the norm but sometimes, IME usually mid-week, you can get lucky with the major carriers.

I usually fly with Ryannair, they get a lot of bad reviews from people but I've never had an issue with them. Easy Jet and Wizz Air are quite handy too.

I always factor in everything before booking a flight then book whatever works out best for me overall. Sometimes that can be flying a budget airline other times not. Also if I can fly out of my local airport I find I don't mind spending a little extra just for convinience aspect of it. Also for quite a few shorter flights its also worth checking trains as europe has quite a lot of high speed rail links and booked early enough these can be cheap and also quicker overall than flying once you factor in the travel to and from the airports.

Frontier is a good example of some points you make.

Watch out for delays. We were delayed 2 hours when travelling to Prague. Luckily a Bolt taxi ride to our Airbnb wasn’t too pricey.

With Easy Jet and RyanAir you can save a lot if you are flying fairly light by putting compliant size luggage under the seat. Totally free. I normally do comfortably if I am away somewhere up to a week. Longer periods become more of a challenge with luggage size.

I flew with Ryanair this summer and it took me longer and almost the same price to get where I wanted to be only because WizzAir stopped flying to an airport closer by where I needed to be so the only options left were flying Ryanair or KLM and yeah then needing to take a bus added to the flight it stil ended up cheaper to get with Ryanair. Also tip if you want to go to Vienna or to Austria then I recommend to fly eith AustrianAir. They even play some music if they landed in Austria and it is classical music from composers who came from Austria
