I have passed in front of that building tons of times without knowing about this incident. As to what I remember of the incident I think that it wasn't the first time that it happened in that building, but the repairs of the elevators where delayed multiple probably to save money. What a tragedy

I think I remember reading somewhere that the best thing you can do in this situation (regardless if you're falling or elevating) is to lie down and protect your head. That way when you get bounced around it lowers the risk of a serious head injury
