3 Issues with Selling Books on Amazon KDP in 2024

This year has been really hard year for self-publishing authors who are uploading a new book onto Amazon. There have been glitches, delays, suspensions and even account terminations around every corner. In this video, Julie Broad of Book Launchers shares three of the biggest issues she and her team have been seeing. One new one not mentioned in the video is that prices aren't being lowered for 99 cent e-book sales so authors that had planned promotions around the 99-cent sales are not getting the price lowered for these promotional offers. Great video as usual, Julie. It's incredibly disheartening to see KDP continue with the suspensions and terminations at an alarming rate. I've said it for awhile now, but I'll say it again: they need a better communication system for recently suspended or terminated account holders. What they have (replying to the termination email) is not effective and is insulting to the account holder. Guilty until proven innocent yet proving it is near impossible since they're not even willing to entertain what the account holder has to say.

And, I don't know if my vote counts, but yes, more about direct sales. More indie authors need direct sales more than ever! Cut out the middleman and connect directly with your readers.

This is a great video and a fantastic update on KDP, so thank you! I have had issues in the past with thieves copying my book, lead magnet, and all, but I was able to shut it down on KDP with my copyright page and publication date. My next book will be copyrighted with LOC. So many timeline changes to consider now make it harder to plan the new book launches!

Love the practicality of the information here! I've generally had a good working relationship with KDP and the people who answer their customer service line. But, then, I haven't experienced any of this and, hopefully (knock on wood) I never will. Very disappointing.

I have had nothing but issues with Amazon Publishing. Too many project manager changes, no response to emails or calls, repeated errors in editing. Find someone else to do your publishing.
