Learn basic English grammar!

This unique, revolutionary series throws out the usual English teaching conventions, parts with the traditional order in which grammar is taught and makes English accessible to anyone who wants to learn!

For teachers curious to see how this is possible, and for students of any ability level who want to improve their English, welcome to English Anyone!

Lesson 9 - Possessives (I, my, mine, 's...)

I - my - mine
you - your - yours
he - his - his
she - her - hers
it - its (not it's) - (nothing used)
we - our - ours
they - their - theirs

Drew - Drew's(his) - Drew's (his)

Alec and Drew - Alec and Drew's (their) - Alec and Drew's (theirs)

This is my book. - This book is mine.

Hello, again, Richard. :)

There is a video on this & that in this series.

I think this video does make it pretty clear. Is there anything your students aren't understanding? We like to introduce things, but students will still need to practice what they've learned.

Good luck!

@live4ever100 Thanks for the comment. You can use "this, " but since it's already understood, we use the shortest thing possible when replying.

Here's another example:
Are Bob and John coming for dinner?

You CAN answer, "Yes, Bob and John are." But in conversational English, because we already know you're asking about Bob and John, we shorten the subject to "they."

Hope that helps!

Now I feel awkward, 'cause I have no idea what you're talking about. But I am happy to see the "That awkward moment when..." comment meme on one of our vids!!! :D

Have a good one, Omar!

@darlingkisses Great idea! We're always happy to try things with other teachers!

Don't know about Mr. Duncan, though. He won't even respond to our friend request.
