I will say the whistling might be misleading, i find mine whistles while being handled, trying to track down some food smell, etc. Just being super active. Unless these past two weeks have been a lie or something because he has been doing these sounds since day 1 when he came to my house; maybe it's a RI, but he is about to shed so hopefully with new scales maybe he will whistle less!

This was a super helpful vid that definitely eased some of my concerns with my Eastern Bluey. One thing that could be good to mention is blueys sneeze especially after eating and that is normal )I got really worried the first time mine did it and it turns out it wasn't sick. Just clearing the dust out. Love your vids. Keep them coming as I have a semi wild or at least, not very socialised young bluey so any info I can get on how to work with her is so valuable.❤

I'm sure you had enough equity in the trust bank where he won't hold grudges once he calms back down. Heck, I'd bet by now he is back to his normal (albeit cranky) self. BTS (not the band of course) are on the very short list of animals I wanted to add to the collection.

Funny story I wanted to share with you. I was trying to get my BCI to use his hides. He has never used them, from the time he was a little hatchling. I have one on the warm side as well as the cool. I think I've seen him inside his hide maybe 2-3 times since I've gotten him. Anyway, I tried rearranging some items in his enclosure to see if I could get him to use his hides more. After a few hours, I went to see if I was successful. I couldn't see him out, and I was so happy! Checked the cool side hide. No Sallah. Checked the warm side hide. No Sallah. Looked in the back corners. No Sallah. Checked to see if he was soaking. No Sallah. Panic time. I take a deep breath, and what do I see? Sallah had decided to do his best hognose impression, and he buried himself in his substrate. The only part that was sticking out was his head! Got a cute pic, but man oh man. Was sure stressing for awhile.

Hi Tricia thanks for sharing I’ve never had a skink before but I think they are just awesome! I’ve been having a hard time grieving over my Nile monitor Isis who just died. I’ve had him for like 4 years and it’s been a shock not having him all of a sudden😣 I was wondering if you have any tips with dealing with reptile loss?

My boy has had whistling since I got him a long time ago and he his fine he probably got wacked Off humidity as a Skinklet. Yes my skink will jump in water to literally clean him self then go dig around
And he also is Eastern did I mention that because they like humidity cause the live around Sydney/Brisbane where it's Humid and sea breeze.

By skinky loves veggies, and protein. He will go does squash before almost anything else in his food. He will eat arugula, and beet greens. I have tried some bee pollen and he did devour his food that was very veggie forward with the bee pollen. But i typically mix lots of veggies with doggo food

so i found out, while mine wasn't eating, everything i fed, her bread in the tank. i wanted to clean it out, but she actually hunts it down. so i limit to once every few months to clean out. she is wild too. 64 cm long female, bluey.

I work at a pet store and we’ve got a blue tongue skink for the first time and since we’ve had he’s had two abscesses on him what are we doing wrong

If you take the greens and mix in the food they will eat it. For Francisco, the protein (100 % meat) dog food is on bottom, veggies on top. He has to eat one to eat the other. He hated veggies at a year but his diet had to change. Now it is 60% veggies 40% protein with occasional banana 🍌 because well, Francisco has issues with 🍌😂I could get him to eat rocks if I place banana 🍌 on them. Frequency also plays a role Tricia @reptiliangarden and Dave @daves_skinks noticed him getting chubby. I cut back to feeding every six days a long time ago. I could put veggies in there alone and he will eat them because he’s hungry. I learned this by watching him occasionally eating pathos. Sometimes he is redecorating sometimes I think he is hungry ❤

Love these videos Trish! I have a northern blue tongue named Smaug (dragon from The Hobbit) so I always look forward to these 💙 blue tongues r actually good swimmers they fill up there body with air like a balloon and swim kinda like alligators

My northern prefers to drink water off of leaves or the enclosure walls. He will occasionally drink from his water bowl but he isn’t a fan lol. I was wondering if others have noticed this as well?

Skink defense is wide open mouth with the tongue rolled up large / the sticking out is tasting and personality.

I was literally searching the internet worried about one of my blueys, bcuz I just put him in an upgraded enclosure and he was like getting really defensive when I tried to get him:( and he was jerking around so I thought there just be something wrong…
But I think it’s just that first thing she talked about

I caught one about 30cm long in my shed a couple of months ago. When I picked it up it opened its mouth with its tongue out for a good few minutes. I showed my children and then let it go 🤙
I already have a pet blue tongue, mine is about 43cm long and quite social.
