Why did the solution to the first PDE have special x-dependence but not y? We get this e^(cx/a) factor in front but I there's no reason why x is more special than y. Could we equivalently also use V' = U*e^(cy/b) ? Should the general solution then be some linear combination of the e^(cx/a)*f(ay-bx) and e^(cy/b)*g(ay-bx) ?

The room is a little echo-y but the volume is fine. I hope you mute the laptop at some point?about 1/10 into the video & looking forward to the mathematics part. I’ll work through this on my own later, but wouldn’t it be simpler to use [exp(ax)] and/or U(x, y) = V(x)•W(y)? {separation of variables à la Frobenius?}
