Reasons why I like this build: 1) Thematic. I love a good theme build. 2) It doesn't require a dump stat. You're at least even on all Saves. 3) Much of the build is open in that you can pick what you want instead of 'if you don't do this for level 3 it all falls apart.' Very well done!

If at lvl 8 the build is complete then I suggest popping into two lvls of Wizard as well and pick evocation. Then your lighting will never hurt an ally and you free up a valuble feat for something better then careful spell

I also prefer storm sorcerer over the draconian line, because later in the game, you can get the staff which gives you the CHAR bonus to the spells, plus free spell, plus harder checks against your spells, plus free chain lightning plus lightning.... Also, storm sorcerer gets true lightning resistance, while draconian line does not (need to use sorcery points for it, which is not worth it). Flight is awesome and is an added movement, meaning, you can move 9m and then fly another 9m. If you are throwing spells around other enemies (chain lightning), they get another damage from storm around you. And the last, you get more spells. Storm soccer is just more interesting to play from the beginning and more OP later in the game. Heart of the storm probably scales, because on lvl 12, enemies get 10 damage.
As the last metamagic, I always take prolonged spell, because it allows us to cast haste for 20 turns! It's a godsend for longer boss battles. If you are full sorcerer, you get this invulnerability area spell, which will last 6 turns instead 3, which is also very important with some boss battles.

Just 1 note, start sorc lvl1 ne then take cleric, that way you have CON proficency for does concentration chekcs. Note that you still get heavy armor unlike with other multiclass because it is not a class proficiency but a subclass one. I would also advice to adjust stat spread ti have 16 in both charisma and constitution but that will have minor impact.

Why not start with Sorcerer? You start with proficiency in Constitution Saves. You still get heavy armor and Martial Weapons when you multiclass to Cleric if you want those.

Cleric 2/sorc 9/wizard 1 is the nuts, you can use your 1 wizard rank to learn Chain Lightning, throw down a water puddle, quickened spell out a chain Lightning w/destructive wrath, wear helm of intelligence to crank that Lightning with Int modifier = 200+ dmg to 4 things with no chance of hurting an ally

For this build your starting class should be Sorcs. You get Con saving advantage if sorcs is your main class... And you get the Heavy Armor anyway at level 2 because its sub class not main class feature.
Edit: You shall get Witch Bolt its the highest scalling spell in the game with level 5 spell slot it does 300 dmg + Wrath doo it with Meta Magic Twin spell the damage is 600 total you pretty much delete the biggest threats in the fight on the first turn.

People overlook in this game how accessible Haste is. If you get a hireling Transmuter, you will be able to use a Haste pot basically every fight, which means you can reliably open every fight with Create Water + Maximized Call Lightning by level 5 and then 2 double-damage Call Lightning every round thereafter

Most of the best spells in this game require Concentration.

Really fun concept. Obvious fire draconic sorc is still way more powerful. Triple cast a level 6 then two level 5 scorching rays with each ray getting cha added. If you start 17 cha, get the hag hair, you can level 4 20 charisma then at level 8 pick up elemental adept fire to ignore fire resistance.

It also gets fly standard as a class feature.

If you carry tons of water and keep the surfaces wet when able all lightning does double damage. So you can then max and double the damage at the same time!

you could also use quickened spell meta magic on the first turn to create water with a bonus action. sure it eats up alot of sorcery points but imagine that double dmg

to get better at concentration spells, get higher constitucion and take the feat war caster, where it says when you were hit, all your con saves to maintain a concentration spell will be rolled with advantage. literally last encounter, there was 10 enimes, each of 'em hittin me 2-3 each turn and I never dropped my concentration spell, spirit guardian whit cleric and hunger of hadar with warlock

Not bad! The level spread is great, but you're better off starting as sorcerer. You get proficiency in constitution saving throws and still pick up heavy armor proficiency and martial weapon proficiency when you multiclass into tempest domain cleric. Also I wouldn't bother with the 14 wisdom since you only get a few cleric spells and a lot of the good ones don't gain much from having a higher wisdom. Put those points into constitution, and with the saving throw proficiency from starting as sorcerer your concentration spells are going to be much harder to break.

Spell save DC was the problem I had with this build. Sure I do double lightning damage, but everyone is saving halving it! I found that depending on your level up of classes order can mess up your CHA or WIS being the main casting ability. I had like 11 spell save DC despite having 20 CHA because it was using my WIS.

Also if your enemies are wet lightning damage doubles so lightning bolt goes from its regular 48dmg to 96dmg

Great build but I'd like to add a few points from my own recent experience with a similar one. I chose a Silver Dragonborn to give me resistance to cold, plus an extra breath weapon that can also slows down aggressors. I went Tempest as well but you have to fit rain on there, by level 2, where I immediately went one level Draconic Ancestor Blue for one level. Getting Electric Resistance, +2 Constitution, and a free Witch Bolt, vs Tumultuous Magic . The latter is insane, but at level 2, I think the Draconic buffs will just be useful for the next few levels. I did always plan on respecing it later level, since by level 6 of Storm Sorc you will have all the spells that you will ever need. However after putting 1 point into Sorc I put the next 5 into Tempest. The spell overlap between Tempest and Storm Sorcerers at those levels are similar. You delay a metamagic point, but you get more diverse spells that can be swapped as a Cleric.

As soon as I turned 8, I respec my character to 2 Tempest 6 Storm Sorcerer and then our builds are pretty similar except I think its also important to the note how electric attacks are not the only thing that combine with rain. So does every cold attack including the simple Ray of Cold. Within the storm there are few things that can resist your Lightning, Thunder, & Cold attacks, except if you yourself are a Silver Dragonborn Storm Sorcerer.

I naturally wound up in this build just playing a theme. Made a gnome into a storm sorcerer cause like the RP of a little man casting thunderbolt and then flying away. I also mixed in the frost staff with freeze ray and frost knife. Just more variety I feel helps and can benefit from sleet storm which you get naturally at sorc level 6.

Love your videos! Haven’t seen them come across my feed in a while, even tho I’m subbed!
My first run was a tempest cleric / sorc multiclass. I started sorc for constitution saving throw proficiency, picked up two levels in cleric for the channel divinity, and finished sorc for higher spells. I use an amulet that gives a second channel divinity charge. Chromatic orb is the go-to upcast since we don’t have transmute meta magic. If they are wet, use lighting, if not use thunder. But chromatic orb upcast is plenty of damage, especially since you can max the damage and cast it twice in one turn. Charisma is the casting modifier and there’s also a hat later that gives +2 charisma up to 22, breaking the normal attribute cap.
2 levels warlock and 10 sorc is also a very strong blaster using eldritch blasts and spells when needed.
