I almost regretted getting the Panasonic 24mm until I saw the focus breathing on this lens. Pfhew, I barely escaped buyers remorse there. The Panasonic is not entirely free of it, but in practice it isn't noticable when focus is adjusted as you are following a subject. It helps when there is a subject in view which "distracts" from the corners.

The comparison for E-Mount should probably include Samyang 24mm f/1.8

Interesting, Sigma is really giving us a lot of 24mm choice. The example pix, taken on a "Sunny f/16 Day", were mostly shot at f/4 or smaller. They could have easily been taken with my Sigma f/3.5 DGDN. Much smaller, better travel lens and a far better choice for the FP-L. I'd say the only reason to have this lens is for f/1.4

I love my Sigma Art 40mm 1.4 but man alive is that lens massive. I get that any Sony native lens is going to be better but is it 50% better (since it cost twice as much oftentime). I laugh at the people saying gear doesn't matter but being the ones who own the top end cameras and are they implying they need the best to get good photos then?

The only thing we need now is RF-Mount and Z-Mount support.

Would really love a 50 1.2 or even 1.4 from sigma. Something between the crappy sony nifty fifty and the gm1.2.

I wish you have tested the e-mount version instead and compared it to the GM..

Great review of the Sigma 24mm - but I'm waiting for your review of the all new Sigma 21mm f1.4.

I own the 28 mm Sigma Art for Sony, love it. The only problem is weight.

Well back in '14 and '15 the Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 or even the 12mm f/2.8 both terrible for stars but the Sony E 10-18mm f/4 a 16-27mm but 12-18mm in full frame and sharp stars and no trailing even at 30s the same for the FE 16-35mm f/4 is great. Then the Sigma 14mm f/1.8 a tank but first and did not know Sony had one coming, stars only looked good at f/4 sad $ loss again. Then the Sony 12-24mm f/4 perfect and even the f/2.8 great. Then first Sony 24mm f/1.4, then 20mm f/1.8 last 14mm f/1.8 and dreams do come true yes for stars/astro/milky way. I spent all that time going wide for the MW only if I had learned to do night panos and just used the 10-18 or 16-35. two others the Voigtlander 12mm f/5.6 Leica M (yes got it with sony adapter) But the Voigtlander 10mm f/5.6 was a best buy and yes for stars/MW great for horseshoe canyon without doing a pano at the edge of windy cliff. With all this and that I will a test that $ saved for the sony lenses is better than the cost less lenses. Yes the low cost they do charts and sample shots but never a star capture the true test of a lens. Even the old old Canon FD 20mm f/2.8, 24mm f/1.4, 35mm f/2.0 even the 50mm f/1.2 are sharper with night stars/nightscapes but AH! AF kicks in for the new video crowd.

Would you recommend to buy this sigma, and sony 35mm 1.8 or go just for the 24GM? Thank you

Not a Sony or Sigma guy - just dropped by to hit that "Like" button.

Thank you for the excellent video review. Based on this and your video review of the 20mm f/1.4 Sigma Art, it seems like the 20mm is the better choice. But I prefer the somewhat more narrow FoV of a 24mm. I wonder how this lens compares optically to the Rokinon 24mm T1.5, which I have.

Please do a comparison of this lens with the tiny series of Samyang/ Rokinon 24 mm AF f1.8

Thanks very much for the informative video. I wonder when Sigma and other third-parties will produce high-quality lenses for the Canon RF mount.
