The first one is 50% off so $50 for a $100 price of equipment such an amazing deal.

So my grandpa was Air Force and we’d spend our weekends up at the Air Force museum at Hill AFB, the two of us would volunteer and run exhibits together.

They had a 60% F-16 sim from the 80’s. Had a cockpit and fairing and full switch panels and everything. Always wanted one of those for the man cave.

I have a Logitech 3D Pro joystick that I've been using for over 10 years now. Today's prices seem to range from $20 to $40 for them. It's the best entry-level stick a simmer can buy!

A lot of people, thanks to the usual suspects of mainstream gaming media, always overlook that there are more than just Thrustmaster and Logitech. Winwing has recently released an AIO joystick for $120 that comes in both right hand and left hand variants for space flight sims.

VKB offers solid products for just slightly more, at $180 for the often-recommended Gladiator NXT EVO w/ SCG Premium.

Then both brands have higher-end stuff that would cost around $500 for a joystick-plus-base. The Winwing Orion 2 HOTAS can come in variations built for F-15E/EX, F-16, and F/A-18 simulation; VKB sells their Gunfighter platform with the metal Modern Combat Grip Ultimate which can cost up to $500 before shipping. They run around the same cost as the Virpil Constellation Alpha Prime w/ WarBRD-D base.

Don't forget the rudder foot-pedals ($300), chair and sled (1500), autopilot panel ($300), control panel ($250), custom control mounts ($500).

And that's with just a vanilla computer and screen.

Yeah, my set up consist of a VR headset and controllers, I’ve never actually gotten into fly a plane yet, but I’m hopefully doing that tonight. Wish me luck.

X56 has a good price/quality/experience balance, plenty of buttons, high quality, dynamic range if movement, amazing capability and yet very affordable

Laughs and fully motorized 737 throttle quadrant. 😂

I bought that HOTAS setup for 30 bucks brand new back in the day. Greed took over when MSFS came out and you’d be lucky to snag a used one for $60-70.

NEW TITLE : flight sim sticks are expensive

You can always go used, and get some really old sim tech. I did that with my $20 Logitech Driving Force for my racing sim set up. The Logitech Driving Force may be 20+ years old, but it still works just as new! And I'm sure the same can go for flight simulator set ups.

I have the first one and it is pretty good, though I am be no means an expert in this field, but if you want to have fun and have a semi-realistic set up it gets the job done

The most expensive part is none of this. It’s the lost productivity. I spent probably 7hours sitting on my ass yesterday pretending to fly from Beijing to Far Eastern Siberia 😂

I personally use a virpil throttle, it's amazing, do note though they are made to order and take a month to two months to ship but there support team is incredible and were super transparent about everything the entire way. The actual delivery only took about a week and, when I got it.. oh.my.goodness was it amazing 🤩 the throttle feels smooth but tactile the buttons are clicky and responsive and the switches.. they are an add kids worst nightmare to put it bluntly, a fidget heaven

As a devout flight simulation nerd, I can say, yes this is true.
