A 57-year-old woman has died on the east coast of Scotland after being swept into a river in Angus during one of the worst storms to hit the area for years.

Storm Babet has forced hundreds of people to move from their homes, thousands more have lost power, and the greatest threat of widespread flooding is still ongoing.

Forecasters have warned that more lives could be lost.

I like the old man's reply. The reporter wants to make some sensationalistic headlines and the old guy says "I've seen it all before", lol, perfect.

Young reporter there, probably frightened of getting wet. Like the guy says " Go up stairs, it will be gone in the morning, it's a flood"
It's what life experience gives us; perspective.

Since when are the Scots scared of a bit of rain? Maybe the reporter should go back down south!

He closed with "a community scared of what lies ahead." Nobody in that video looked scared.

This is normal seasonal weather whipped up by alarmist, extremists in the media.

Extreme winter of 63
Heatwave of 76
Storm of 87
Been there, seen it, done it.
It's just what the weather does....

I really hate when 'know nothing ' news people say people are scared. People are probably just pissed off and wondering how to get to work tomorrow.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard so many stupid questions from one person. I love the way the older guy was taking it all in his stride.

North Yorks here; had a spell of rain in the morning, bit breezy but the brolly coped admirably, followed by a dry and warm afternoon and evening. Quite mild this morning, I'm going to have a walk on the moors. If we're going to call every appearance of rain in the UK a storm we'll run out of names by mid November.

Love the comments! Great that people can see through the BS.

These storms seem much more dramatic because they give them names now !
Feel sorry for the family of the person who died, but this is nothing new .
This time of year always gives us storms or as we used to call it, a short spell of bad weather .

Notice to City Council's...Get the drains cleaned regularly so the extra water from rain can flow away.
Year's of clogged up drains has caused so much problems....restricting water flow !!

I'm in Scotland right now...aye fair enough it's windy and water is rising but it's no life threatening where I am and we got issued a red warning.

Can we all take a moment to appreciate the legend that is Brechin resident, Mr John Stewart!

Well done that man!

Yet we still need to implement hosepipe bans when we get a bit of warm weather. I think the UK will never have problems replenishing it's water supply. It rains roughly 300 days a year most probably over here.

Here in Dundee in Angus, I had to put on a Goretex Waterproof Jacket to go to the local shops to get some milk. I was going to wear a Cotton Ventile Jacket but changed my mind.
