The Pygmy Three-toed Sloth, sometimes called the monk sloth, holds the title of the smallest sloth species globally. These unique creatures inhabit only Isla Escudo de Veraguas, a tiny island near Panama's coast. Renowned for their lethargic pace and elongated claws used for gripping trees, they boast a shaggy brown coat and a rounded head featuring an adorable button nose. Sadly, the Pygmy Three-toed Sloth is critically endangered, primarily due to habitat destruction and hunting, with just a few hundred individuals remaining in their natural habitat.
