The Acapulco Gold is a dirt-simple power amp distortion device that's based on the vibe of a cranked Sunn Model T. You know what's awesome? Vintage Sunn Amplifiers. You know what else is awesome? This pedal sits somewhere between distortion and fuzz and is extremely loud!

I have an old Sunn Model-T, I run it along side an Orange Crush Pro CR120C 2x12 combo (120w), both amps are stereo into a modified 400w Orange PPC412-HP8 (High Powered) cab. It's modified so that two G12K-100 (100w each) at the bottom are 8ohm each totalling 16ohm, and like wise for the top two. The Sunn is plugged into the top two while the Orange 2x12 combo is bottom two, sometimes the other way around, and the Orange combo has two 75w Celestion G12-Ts installed. I've got an ABY switch so I can run both amps at once... I bought this Acapulco Gold pedal, cranked the volumes on both amps and cranked the knob on the pedal... It gives you an idea of what a small, to slightly medium sized nuclear war is like.

It's just silly, stupid, idiotic, but absolutely brilliant. Normally I can get the Orange Master Volume at 4, maybe under 5 and it's too loud for most situations, the Sunn is too loud most of the time at 2 or just over. But there are times when I can cranked the hell out of them both and put the Acapulco Gold in front of them both and things get a whole lot louder.

Fuzz pedals generally aren't my thing, but I love the looks and it sounds huge!

The knob is just a volume knob. It doesn't do anything other than just add more volume - it does not add more fuzz. The gain setting is fixed. It will boost and overdrive your amp - that's where the extra gain will come from.

I have a park fuzz, big muff, and one of these. This is the best. sizzly, sensitive, sometimes creamy and keeps a decent tone (for a fuzz). like a better big muff.

I've got this one and I love it but it is seriously LOUD. I rarely turn the knob past 8:00 and the neck pickup is all blown out noise at full guitar volume... the bridge pickup however is a thunderous doom machine!

Reminds a lot of the Silversun Pickups wall of fuzz sound that is a lot if their stuff. Not an "always on" type of deal, but certainly unique.

This is some righteously insane fuzz, I don't mind when less pricey companies make pedals that blow me away but this GAS is painful!

It sounds great, however if you cannot control the output level after the effect, it seems more applicable to recording than a pedal for your live board, unless the sound you like out of the pedal is also the right output level. that would be lucky.. or am I missing something?

It sounded good on the lower settings but when turned up it had a very extreme fuzz effect that just isn’t my thing.

the control on the pedal is just pure volume!many people don't get that.just loudness nothing else.the tone of the pedal is always the same.
