Put the ball more toward your back foot. Get your knees and hips in a good position and keep them there (dont bounce up and down when you swing) and just use your arms and shoulders to swing. Works for me everytime

Great advice. Actually the only advice most people need for chipping.

Only thing I would argue is when you open the club face, you actually stop activating the bounce and you rely on the rear of the club, so if its deep (wide bottom) the wide bottom acts as bounce instead of the spine.

This is my understanding from a club forging video I watched years ago, and reiterated by phil recently in a video with bryson.

If you use this exact technique as he states, and you force the toe down (heel up) it will cause a higher, softer chip as well, Same mechanics but it yields a shot between a chip and a flop.

Practice in your backyard, find the swing that works for your shortgame. We are not all the same. But some simple tips that apply to most. Feet close together, get your practice swings scalping the grass. Short game deosnt require alot of wrist action. Just a little.

Chips are about the club choice, practice and confidence. Once you can match the loft of club and speed of the swing you can confidently strike the ball.
A lot of practice is the only way to be confident. After that you need to trust yourself and hit the ball the way you practice and not be afraid of hitting it too hard and misshitting/hitting too soft.

The most undeniably true thing here is the coach's first observation. Jerome's short game needs HELP. The long game is looking strong, and had been impressive for some time. When he swings the driver, he looks like a GOLFER. But when he chips, you can see that there's work to be done. And I think hands forward would help that. Maybe try different things, but definitely the chip is the one part of Jerome's game that needs the most work, and could drive his score much lower. He's at the point of ultra fine-tuning the full swing, truly on the way to scratch with amazing commitment. But the short game just does not look to be in the same ballpark -- yet.

I understand what he means but this doesn't work on all types of grass. And it doesn't work on all lies. Modern club design also favours a more release type of chipping. Even a toe down style. The modern way of chipping is playing draws rather than cuts. Even with an open club face, the move is more of a draw.

I watched Paul Azinger's video.".Golfplan : Recovery : Using Bounce" on YouTube a couple of years ago. Figure Zinger knows. He says the exact OPPOSITE. He wants you to set the club at 90*, and return it exactly at 90, NOT with hands forward. I tried very hard to learn this, but always seemed to end up flipping. I'll stick with this.
