I’m 53 and have been playing Destiny for 10years for the pve content. I do play pvp from time to time but no way would i have been playing this game for the pvp content.

Imagine if they just invested in Destiny 3 instead of Marathon, after a successful Final Shape, could of used it as an excuse to reset and move away from failing seasons and create a whole new model and milked it. The franchise is a money maker with an established base, they just need to not fuck it up. I honestly think it'll be cooked, the PVP model has too much established competition.

They should've played to their strengths. I knew this was gonna happen. I see companies become successful over time, then the leadership gets overconfident and feels like they can tackle on something they've never done before, and bam they flop. They should've invested more into that Payback project. It could've been a love letter to Destiny and the community. But no, they wanted to pump out something that many people aren't even interested in.

If they were launching a whole new MMOFPS/RPG that _included_ an extraction shooter mode for PvP, that's one thing, since the original Marathon 'verse was my introduction to Bungie's world building. Learning from the mistakes of the D1 and D2 development growing pains would have helped them revamp a decades-long languishing IP into a new franchise, rather than relying solely on just Destiny and whatever fond memories people had of the original Halo franchise.

I would love to see a fully customizable character complete with names, backgrounds, _houses_, full avatars inhabiting realistic, complex worlds with _optional_ open world FPS PvP, like the FPS version of MMO PvP, where people can opt-in to the optional PvP system. Leveraging AI for creating dynamic interactions with NPCs that are done on the fly would be interesting as well, especially if it can blur the lines between NPCs and player characters, and blur the lines between who you can or can't attack (eg. shopkeepers).

Make the open world like a sim, have rogue-like dungeon crawling elements, exploration, and other features, but have them seamless in the world that you can hop in or out of just while exploring the world. So much of Destiny 1 and 2 has empty space that is pretty and pointless, rarely if ever used by any players. Making all those spaces more dynamic, with the possibility to have random encounters unique to your character, complete with role playing elements related to your character's background, and more than just typical old school MMO fetch quests, but more immersive stories that have repercussions in the world beyond just giving you some reward at the end.

In its very first reveals they made it sound like a fast past Strike with scoring and secrets and loot at the end for which you were timed against other players. It sounded like a Destiny Dungeon/Nightfall with Secret Mission attributes and I was on board. THEN THEY SAID that the other 3 player fireteams would be on the same field disrupting your progress and I immediately thought of Gambit. I can not imagine a GM Nightfall where enemy players spawn in and ruin your team focus, I was immediately switched off at the concept.
