Nikon Z9 video AF performance on native and FTZ, ETZ21 adapted lenses.

I have wanted to test the AF capability in 3D Tracking mode on various lenses for quite some time. This video was shot on the Z9 with the 24mm 1.8G f mount lens.

In this video we go through Native Z, Sony ETZ21 adapted and FTZ adapted lenses to compare how they perform on the Nikon Z9. Five lenses are tested to check how they well the auto-focus in 3D tracking mode.

CORRECTION: Sony GM should be Sony GM II, it was incorrectly marked GM in this video.

Hi Peter. The Zeiss 1.8, the first lens i felt looked nice. It had a pleasing tone to the image, well it's a 1.8 and I like the look, The AF performance was lacking I agree. the response time was a bit delayed. the Z lens was the best one out of the bunch when ot comes to AF smoothness in video and sharpness. Zeiss was vry sharp aswell, Its funny, I owned allot of Z glass but don't own that 24-120 Z. I will be getting one soon. I've heard really good things about it. The issue with adapted menses with AF is that, you will get better performance with native lenses. E lenses adapted are very nice on Z9. Keep up the good work and welcome to youtube. Looking forward in seeing what you produce for the future. Enjoy the Z9. It really truly is the camera to have.

Cheers, Peter. Interesting comparison. All the lenses looked decent but obvious variations in AF response, including speed. You didn't mention what focus speed (g6) setting you had on the Z9. That affects response considerably and allows different video results -- a slow "focus pull", for instance. I made a tutorial on that, using the Z6.

Hello.Recently bought a Nikon Z9. Found that the RAW photo is only 45 mp.
Please tell me, does anyone know if Nikon plans to add M RAW, S RAW to the camera in the future as in the Nikon D850?
