Building limousines is an elaborate and detailed process. Production begins with an ordinary car being sawed in half. Long steel beams connect the two sections before an outer frame is attached. Once complete, the interior is decked out with disco lights and leather upholstery so you are comfortable during your next party. Here's an inside look at how limousines are made.

Limo's are dying out. Even famous people just get driven around in large SUV's nowadays.

Calling it luxury. Might be stretching it.

How to take a $40k car; add another $40k of parts and labor and end up with a car now worth $20k.

I always used to think auto manufacturers had special limousine versions of their cars made to order, which is why I assumed they'd be so expensive and far and few between. Never did I think it'd be so relatively simple as just taking one car and cutting it in half before adding to the middle of it. It honestly makes it feel less durable than it was originally engineered to be, especially when most of it's a weld job.

This reminds me of the Top Gear episode where Jeremy, Richard and James made their own limousines.

I used to work at Executive Coach. Few different departments. And i can tell ya there is much more intricacy to a full build. Its really neat

2:06 when they put in the side post, all I could think of was, what if another car hit it right there on the side in an accident. The other vehicle would rip right through that and kill anyone on the other side! These guys have got to go back to the drawing board!!!

Here after reading about the limo crash in upstate NY. I’m shocked at how little (if any) safety features there are. I didn’t realize that limos are all just modded cars not at all designed to carry the load of the extra structure let alone so many passengers.

Buyer “What’s the limo made from?”
Worker “Steel steel steel and more steel”

It doesn't look nearly as a as normal car. A side hit from a truck or even an SUV would just kill everyone in its way. Don't know how a thing like that is even legal.
