5:14 this example build gave me a chuckle because it was exactly my first dnd character.

I think druid and bard should be in their own tier as the most difficult classes to play. Clerics, wizards and sorcerers usually have easy options as long as they have spell slots available. Clerics can alway cast spells like bless, spiritual weapon and spirit guardians and heal in the meantime. Wizards and Sorcerers have so many of the good controll options but also blast spells like magic missile and fireball. Bard and Druid spells are so much harder to use since their staple spells are not as universal.

I would have to say the Monk got underrated. There has been many changes. In the 2024 update of Dungeons & Dragons, the Monk class has undergone significant enhancements, addressing previous limitations and elevating its overall effectiveness. Key changes include:

1. Martial Arts Improvements:

Expanded Weapon Options: Monks can now consider all simple melee weapons and any martial melee weapons with the Light property as Monk weapons, broadening their combat versatility.
D&D BEYOND
Increased Martial Arts Die: The Martial Arts die now starts at 1d6 and progresses to 1d12, enhancing damage output across levels.
TABLETOP JOAB
Dexterity for Grapple and Shove: Monks can use Dexterity instead of Strength when attempting to grapple or shove, aligning with their agility-focused combat style.
D&D BEYOND
2. Enhanced Resource Management:

Monk's Focus: Formerly known as Ki Points, Focus Points have been refined for better usability. Features like Flurry of Blows no longer require an initial Attack action, and Patient Defense and Step of the Wind offer more flexible movement and defensive options.
D&D BEYOND
Uncanny Metabolism: At level 2, Monks gain the ability to regain all expended Focus Points once per long rest upon rolling initiative, significantly improving their endurance in prolonged encounters.
TABLETOP JOAB
3. Defensive and Offensive Enhancements:

Deflect Attacks: This feature now allows Monks to reduce damage from melee or ranged attacks dealing bludgeoning, piercing, or slashing damage. If damage is reduced to zero, they can spend a Focus Point to redirect the attack toward another target.
D&D BEYOND
Stunning Strike Adjustments: Stunning Strike has been refined to balance its potency, with the stunned condition now lasting until the start of the Monk's next turn, and on a successful save, the target's speed is halved, and the next attack against them has advantage.
D&D BEYOND
These updates collectively enhance the Monk's combat capabilities, resource management, and versatility, making it a more formidable and balanced class in the 2024 edition of D&D.
I would say this makes the Monk minimally A tier. ^_^ I hope this helps.

Your fighter example was exactly what I went for as my first character. His name was Albrich Greataxe and he was a drwarf with a brother, Thorin Greataxe, who was also a champion fighter but was much greedier which killed them.

While I agree with the tier list itself, I expected this, due to the title, to be centered on the upcoming D&D 2024 changes.

Also I would put ranger a bit lower because of one of the positives you mentioned. You said that recent add-one made it easier but I would argue that the need for more books would make it harder.

Took me a minute to realise this is for the 2014 rules as most content currently is about the new 2024 rules.
Listing probably stays the same.

why do so many youtubers insist on calling it "Kie" or "Kai" I mean any dnd player is a nerd and no nerd has never heard of "Qi - Chi - ki" or any of the thousands of others that are used in asian traditionalistic thinking and OVER used in every kind of media in the west.

Its pronounced "Kee" all versions of stuff like this always uses the "E" sound because most languages dont have the letter i be pronounced "ai" like in english

Since the 80s this word has been everywhere in games, anime, fantasy and other pop culture and is consistantly pronounced like "kee"

otherwise very great video <3 :P

As soon as you said "fun to play" there was only one top answer - Barbarian 😂
