Then I had to watch MasterChef Canada chefs complaining that a proper scotch egg must have the yolk completely cooked, while the best ones I've eaten in my life are just like in this video, runny and creamy.

We Bengalis have a similar dish called Aloo Chap. Boiled egg, surrounded with boiled mashed potatoes (spicy version otherwise we wouldnt be bengalis) and cover it with batter and fry it.

Nigerian America here we eat & makers this as well. It called stoch egg or some call it Egg Roll ( All Love from oakland California ) by way of Auchi in Edo state south. South of Nigeria 🇳🇬

In Texas we have something pretty similar it’s called an armadillo egg and it’s a jalapeño popper wrapped in bacon and in ground beef or sausage, battered and fried

Jammy egg is the best. Unfortunately, as I've grown older, I've also grown severely allergic to eggs. So. I've never had a scotch egg and now I'll never be able to. Some things in life are just not fair.
