The cost of homeowner's insurance in Florida is going through the roof. Residents who say they have never filed a claim are getting hit with huge rate hikes.

Rising costs of homeowner's insurance or failure to even find a company to insure a house was a deciding factor not to move to Florida. If the costs are this bad now what is it going to be like in 5 years, 10 years or 20 years?

If people replaced their roofs with commercial grade steel, like I did 2 years ago, this wouldn't be a problem. My insurance inspector rated my new roof's expected life to be 100+ years.

Thanks to all the roof claims for old roofs that were really maintenance issues and the lawsuits draining reserves. Can’t pay claims if the lawyers age getting all the money. Stop involving lawyers. My 1479$ last year renewed this year for 4479$ this year due to approved rate increases. 3000$ in 1 year. I blame lawyers and homeowners who use policies like maintenance plans.

Anyone find a lower cost one that doesn’t require every 10 year shingles

What did you expect the lumber companies and oil companies are getting away with it I guess the insurance companies wanted a piece of the pie before we get into another recession
