Normally, I'm a regular blue denim kinda guy. I've been wearing Levi's 501s since I was in high school, and still wear the same size (31W 30L) as I did when I graduated high school in 1985. I've always got about a half dozen pairs of the classic blue in my wardrobe rotation at any given time. But, in my bottom drawer, is a pair of jet black 501s that only comes out for concerts. This pair of Levi's has seen Kiss, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Megadeth, Mötley Crüe, Slayer, Alice Cooper, Anthrax, the Struts, Death Angel, Testament, Ghost, and the Foo Fighters, just to name a few. One simply cannot go wrong wearing black 501s to any show. Accessorized with a pair of black Chuck Taylors and a black t-shirt, black 501s will simply have you more ready to rock than any other pants you could possibly wear.

501 original and thanks for reviewing the 1954 cut, it does vary but mine has a nice slim but roomy fit and honestly I love the pockets being higher and a little smaller on the back really helps flatter the backside which you wanna look good in, also I would say the light wash Levi’s 501s tend to be more roomy, black and other colors tend to be tighter and more tapered, but grey ones like dark or light grey tend to be classical straight fit while light grey ones fit slimmer so like a lot of major brands there’s a lot of inconsistenties due to different factories, inspection and maintenance so best to try them on, find your best fit and go from there

Spent forever looking for the right fit and finally landed on these. As someone with skinner legs, the 501 slim taper fits much better than the original straight leg 501 fit. There's still good room in the thigh, but the lower leg doesn't billow out like a trash bag on me with this cut. I like that these are 100% cotton and have a button fly, it feels like they'll hold up a lot longer than my other stretch cotton pairs. They aren't quite as soft or stretchy, obviously, but they aren't raw denim by any means. They are comfortable even on the first wear -- the button fly is a bit tight at first, but that loosens up over time. I'll likely buy this cut again.

Love the 501 original jeans, fit exactly as expected. Levi jeans tend to be a little snug on me so I ordered a waist size higher because these are 100% cotton and I knew they would shrink. Fit is very comfortable and will get even better with each wear and washing. Good value and material is nice quality. Mine were made in Egypt. Can’t find jeans made in USA anymore.

I’m a vintage Levi’s fanatic for sure. I used to hate jeans and wore skinnies and I hated the way they fit and looked. But now, ever since I got my first pair of 501s, Jeans are my go to pants, and have a rapidly growing collection 😅

I have been buying Levi 501's for decades. These are no different than the ones I bought 20, 30, 40 or more years ago. Yes they are now manufactured all over the globe now and not in the USA. Other than that, they are the same. Same style, same color same fabric and on and on. I did not weight them or count the number of threads per inch but to me they are the same 501's I wore as a child. My suggestion is if you are so concerned about the heritage of your 501 jeans you might want to find a different product and maybe get a life in the process.
