you can wear slim shoes with wide pants if the pants fully rest over the shoe in a relaxed sort of slouchy manner. (like the back of the pants is right on the heel) I think having the really wide leg right up ontop of the thin shoe looks really intentional and stylish.

And other tip I would add is to wear them with confidence.
For people like me who used to go on the slimmer side, when I first try wearing baggy jeans I felt weird, but the comfort i experienced (since I have big legs) made me feel great and now I wear them with confidence and I think I look crispy ;)
