In this video I walk you through a day in my life as an indie game developer who also manages the responsibilities of having a full time job as a software engineer. I show how I make time for everything, including spending time with loved ones, playing sports, and having some time to just chill.

Hey there! Wanted to address a comment I've been seeing recently related to my sleep schedule. Don't worry, I do NOT sleep from midnight to 5am every day. I only have volleyball one night a week, and I sleep in the morning after if it's a late game. I'm almost always in bed asleep by 10pm or earlier every day, giving me at least 7 hours of sleep. Getting this much sleep is VERY important to me, both for my physical and mental well being. I definitely don't advocate trying to make 5 hours / night work - give your body the rest it needs to recover!

Thanks for watching!

I find your healthy lifestyle extremely impressive. I mean stretches in the morning, consistant breakfasts, cooked dinners, and volleyball all in one day. Well done man

Aye nice video my guy! The vegetables being cut to the music was hella satisfying :D

1:28 raise your monitor until the top bezel is at your eye level, otherwise your stretches at 5am become useless.
The rest of the setup looks ergonomic, good job on that.

Takes a lot of discipline to keep a healthy lifestyle in this industry. Keep it up!

I live for the wholesome lives of game devs who cook and enjoy nature!!
Also both of your desk setups look sooo nice!

The man works full time job, develops games, exercises, cooks, and drives a manual. Respect. Wish I was capable of all that

I went to college for computer programming, learned C#, Java, HTML5/CSS, JavaScript. My final project in college ended up being a first person shooter, sort of like Nazi zombies in unity.

After college, I realized there wasn't much of anything to apply for anywhere near my area so I was basically forced to get my CDL and drive a truck if I wanted to survive financially... Now 3 years later I'm starting to get the itch to get back into programming and try to make a fully featured game. Decided on unreal, although I'm finding it tough to balance my time. With working 80-110 hours/week at my main job, balancing a wife/kid it's not easy but I'm determined to get it done so I can get out of this field I hate. It's practically sucking my life away with how much I have to work! Thanks for the inspiration man, I'm just going to keep fighting to get there.

The best part of this video was that you drive a manual! 💯

Hey man, I’ve just started building a game with some pals and my sis and this is probably one of the most inspirational things I could have watched right now. Thank you!

Nice job. Thanks for showing a bit of your routine. It’s definitely inspiring. I too work a full time IT job and also am a part time university professor and have 3 kids under 4 years old. This makes it a bit tough to do game development during free time as I have no free time, but yeah the struggle is real lol

I like this. I am usually really productive and good too, but I've been bad with my sleeping lately and that messes it all up.

I don't know if this is still your routine three years later, but I have to say it seems like a very good routine.
Your time to get up and start your game dev is for me the time I almost have to leave for work (I work from 6AM till noon).
I'm still trying to find a balance between my physical job (as in physical work), game dev, writing my books (and other things that have to do with world building 😁) and relaxation 😁😁
But I'll get there.

It's interesting to see how other indie developers do this! Thanks for sharing your experiences 😀😀

I'm glad the video came to my feeds. This is very expiring. It made me realise that I need to put more discipline in my projects
