how would you go about selling beats with samples like this one, with it not being cleared and stuff? or do you only upload beats with samples you either made yourself or are cleared / royalty free?

The filtering is not a Kanye technique producers were doing this since before Pete Rock and CL smooth its been around for decades. One of the reasons they high pass filtered a sample is because if the left the low end of it, it would create conflict when they added a baseline to the piece. The baselines are very thick and heavy to that genre so it's just not ideal to not filter it. Even though I know how to sample i don't really sample in my music I still think it's so cool and creative to see what can come about a sample from a song that was popular back in the day or possibly forgotten.

u did this with just a daw and midi keyboard? wow sounds good famron. Nice tutorial concise and allows knowledge to be gained but still i can add my workflow style to it.
