I used to think 1:35 - 2:15 was way too needlessly long and repetitive, but it hit me why this is arguably the most meaningful part of the whole song. Eventually, YOU begin to zone out from the song and reminisce about your life. You get lost in your own daydream of heartache/what could have been. It suddenly becomes your story

I think what's sad about this song is that the relationship ended in the most natural way: The love just stopped.

Not because of cliches like an affair or something like that.

It ended because it just wasn't meant to be.

That makes it more heartbreaking and sad.

I find interesting to compare the thoughts people have about youth and teenagers nowadays to this. For me, being young isn't about living fast, being drunk every weekend and having sex with everything that moves. For me being young is about falling in love, being heartbroken, living adventures with your friends, thinking your life choices, having a shitty job so you can afford a t-shirt from your favorite band. Being young is like suffering with your friends and enjoying every second of it, because at the end of the day you realize that you can only be young once
