St. Nicodemus was born in Naxos in 1748 and died on the 14/07/1809. He was canonized in 1955. On his feast day a procession is held. An icon of the saint is carried by naval personnel along the waterfront precedes church dignitaries. State offices anf the faithful follow. They are met by a fireworks display.The ships in the port sound their sirens in salute to St. Nicodemus.Slight strobbing during fireworks.
