Dude - you are a f’n genius! Breaking down these complex topics to practical use; you’re a treasure— I mean it. Carry on, please.

I have heard the reasoning why the vi was called the submediant numerous times but this time it finally clicked.

Been trying to understand chord functions for a while now, you're the first to really explain them clearly

Absolutely amazing. Very good and simple explanation of a complex subject. Very quick but the beauty is the video can be paused.
I love your approach.

I’ve been in music for several years, and to be honest, I never knew what tonics where. At least now I won’t have to awkwardly nod in class anymore haha

Thanks this helps a lot..I bought a package lesson but they didn't go into detail. They just said oh here's three tonic chords, two sub dominant, and two dominant there ya go. I'm like wtf why three tonic why?? Haha this helps a lot. Thanks.

a practical note, a musical anthropology question: 1/ wish all pieces - office, hamilton - had illustrated and labeled the chord progressions; 2/ is the 'longing for resolution' based purely on musical conventions - our ear 'looks for' what it's 'used to hearing'? or is it there some 'human' music consciousness of tones that makes tonics sound resolved, 'at home, ' etc?

Question. The submediant chord (Am7 in C major say) moving to a dominant chord (say G7 in Cmajor). In this situation does (or can) the Submediant (Am7) chord have Sub dominant function?🤔

I still don't know specifically what a tonic IS. Seems like from everyone's explanation, it can still be so many things.

Great explanation. There are loads of other videos and websites on This subject but they don’t explain WHY like this one does.
