New Citadel Paint Review: Shades (washes)

A review of the shade range which replaces the old washes. I do side by side comparisons with Nuln Oil and Badab Black, Agrax Earthshade and Devlin Mud, and Thraka Green and Beil-Tan Green.

What's the equivalent substitute for Anthonian Camoshade?

Jessica Biel tan. That's how you pronounce it.

Shake the hell out of those bottles, especially after buying, it should prevent the graying or glossing. Worked for me!

They work aw-sum im not a massive fan of discontinuing ranges tho as most people don't like to mix ranges when they have started but as a quick question. Would you be interested in comparing the old and new washes against the new army painter quick shade ink set? As they apparently work the same as old washes with less surface tension.

It looks like for the new ones: less is more as you need little for a stronger tone.

I've had that happen to me as well. Try doing thinner coats (don't let it pool as much) or use the thinning medium instead of water

Great video. I love seeing the differences in paints and how they're used.

the big benefit to GW paints is that you can get them anywhere and they support them with painting guides. I also use Reaper paints, but tend to do the tutorials with GW ones because that's what people want to see.

I've watched your review on the paints in order so far and I must say a thumbs up to everything seems like horse shit to me ...

Yeah, i had a similar issue with Seraphim Sepia. I found it was lessened if you shook the shades a lot before use. For the glossy patches, both Army Painter and Vallejo make paint on matt varnishes that will fix this with ease!

I found the shades flow easier as well this is handy for me as you don't get accidental spots but I've found that one of them is glossy: riekland(?) fleshshade, anyone else had this

Fyi- i have found the shades much thiner and flow too easily. I wased an eldar with the yellow and came back to find all the wash had all ran down to the base of the model

Thanks for the review Paul. I have been wary about trying the new shades, however since I ran out of wash I am going to have to suck it up here soon. Glad to see these ones have not changed.

Actually Devlan Mud is different from Agrax Earthshade. The new one is more brownish in "gryphonne sepia" way. it's not so "dirty" anymore -.-

Nice review. I can't seem to find the color chart on GWs webside. Could someone please help me with that?

I couldn't tell the difference in Reikland fleshade vs Ogryn

How are the new golds? Because I got a pot of Burnished Gold from the old range and it was so thin that it was like water with glitter in it.
