We're not "bringing it up", it's a counter to the theist argument that religion is better for society or required to be moral etc etc.

Progress is the key to happiness, not primitive Abrahamic beliefs.

We bring it up because when we can apply our human morals rather than disagree about all our different beliefs and fight about them, its better for us. Most wars are religious wars. It's just funny to me that religions so based in peace and love somehow start the most wars

Harmful? Let me count the ways. It makes countries more violent and chaotic when they are religious. And the trauma to individuals is incalculable.

Do the guy on the bottom’s reasoning is basically a correlation vs causation fallacy. Cool.

By Shermer's logic, religion is good because as America becomes more secular, depression and deleting yourself has increased.

As long as there are superstitious, ignorant people, theism will thrive.

In the US, is it the presence of all these very devout religious groups who emigrated from Europe when the settlers came to America? Some kind of re-kindling and unifying factor for the culture of a new civilizatiob? Before that Europe had already gone through all these religions, philosophical ideas & political changes (including the French revolution) and continued on that trajectory...

Any doctor will tell you that correlation is not causation

I would argue it is relevant. Because in these countries I WON'T BE KILLED FOR MY BELIEFS!

Adam Green is right about the aims and harms of Christianity.

InspiringPhilosophy crumbles when he isn’t talking to his front facing camera 😂😂😂😂 as soon as he starts talking to a real human, he folds.

Everything has gotten worse since we abandoned Christianity. We need to return

You’re right! Religiosity is not needed. We have lots of it! In every variety, shape, color, form, or idea. What is needed is a little common sense, a little human kindness, and that can be generated today’s human heart, or perhaps, even a religious faith renewal, something similar to the 19th century early 20th century in America. Europe has been able to become less religious because they saw other religious nations in Europe during World War I and two murdering each other. They didn’t not poor land game or good people having a need for something they didn’t have they did it for total complete and absolute revenge on the countries that defeated them, as a result, Europe scene war in the name of whatever cause, to make the attempt to say that there is no cause for war, and we’re going to remove at least one major cause religion. Perhaps they will also find dentist may not be enough, because if you do away with religion, you are left with human morals. Human morals are not what this world needs.

This is a foolish argument. Correlation isn't causation, and if you want to identify the growth of secularism in the West that led to its relative peace, that itself was the outgrowth of Christian thought.
