My husband and I maintain joint and separate accounts. It’s a good way to be on the same page about shared expenses like rent and eating out, but it also gives us freedom and individuality in buying non-essentials with our personal money.

I like splitting it based on income and then separate and joint accounts. I used to think completely joint was the only way to go but money is literally SUCH a sensitive topic for so many people. A little individual liberty probably goes a long way.

The problem I see here is with the term "romantic partner". That can mean so many different things which would equal different approaches. How I split costs with a boyfriend is going to be different than a husband. I'm not getting a joint account with a boyfriend.

Divide bills based on earnings percentage. For example, with a total household income of $100, 000 at $60k and $40k, one should pay 60% and 40% respectively of shares expenses such as rent, groceries, etc. I agree on having joint and separate accounts. I'm single and pay all my own bills while my guy friends provide disposable income.

Yes, joint account all the way for shared expenses and then separate personal accounts for spending money. Should be based on percentages and not dollar amounts, make the whole thing a lot more simple.

My bf and I live together and plan on marrying. We are keeping separate accounts. He pays for dining, groceries, mortgage, utilities, laundromat. I pay for clothes, my bills, personal care, medicine. We will most likely keep it this way unless I am able to make 100k like him as well.

The $93, 000 salary one was literally so pointless🙄 What's the point of putting a single women's thoughts in there when the video is about how they split finances with their partner? Smh

Though I think I earn more than my husband, he take over most things basic as it is customary for the guy to provide for the girl. Newly married, I do get him gifts and do spend on food here and there. But he doesn’t like it when I pay while he is present
