Think this is difficult? Imagine playing Go in 3 dimensions. 19x19x19. AlphaGo will surely, if not already, have that down on lock. No human would be able to beat it unless assisted with a microchip implanted in to the player's brain and AI assisting the person from it. Even then, would still be an unlikely feat.

This in actuallity is a lot less impresive than it sounds... If you read it, the AI "ensures victory rather than running ahead" which is a long way of saying its still nothing more than a reactionary model to the player. As the game continues on the list of possible combinations decreases significantly and at one stage it becomes just as hard as chess, if not arguably easier. Its the illusion of millions of combinations that make people believe its the worlds most difficult game but its gameplay is infact quite linear.
