Duh! Google has like 100x the resources and 10x years of expertise compared to OpenAI. To believe that OpenAI can really compete with Google is in my opinion naive. Blake Lemoine said that Google is using OpenAI as a "pace car". Get it? Google wants to avoid antitrust and legal issues.

OpenAi just announced it's o3 reasoning model which is WAY past o1 on benchmarks.
Nothing in this space is definitive.
